Diabetes Eye Screening Clinic : An AIOS initiative

IROPA is actively participating

DES Clinic : FAQ

 

"Diabetes Eye Screening Clinic" which can be organized by each AIOS member, singly, in groups, through the affiliated societies, with or without the support of International or local NGOs. The Govt. of India is giving full co-operation and will instruct all district collectors to give necessary permissions in case any clinic Organiser needs them.

 

The preferable duration of the clinic will be at least one day (between 14th and 20th November 2014); however it may be kept for more number of days as per the request of the AIOS Partner organization. In this context the World Diabetes day is 14th November.

What IROPA is doing

 

Being an affiliated society, IROPA will be actively participating in this novel project of AIOS and accordingly the following steps have been taken:

 

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) has been entered between IROPA and AIOS. Click to download the signed copy.

  • On the basis of this signed MOU any ophthalmologist of Indian Railways can organise such "Diabetes Eye Screening Clinic" at the respective hospitals.

  • Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway have already progressed in arranging such clinics in multiple dates within the stipulated time frame.

  • Clarification and assistance will be provided from the  office of IROPA in organising such clinics.

  • All the members of IROPA are requested to organise such clinic as per the available local resources.
